Paris police started a night curfew on Monday.
It covers two areas of the city.
The aim is to stop more violence.
There was very bad rioting across France over the weekend.
The rioters attacked city halls and other public buildings.
They also attacked thousands of businesses.
The curfew covers Place de la République, where there was rioting on Saturday.
It also covers the Les Halles shopping area, where there was looting.
The curfew runs from 11 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Gatherings and demonstrations are banned from 8 p.m.
Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu had asked for "very limited" and "localized" curfews.
In northern France, local authorities ordered night curfews for people under 18.
This was in several cities, including Lille.
It started on Monday and lasts two days.
Nice also ordered a night curfew for minors from 9 p.m.
Lecornu defended the police response.
He said there was terrible violence and a lot of damage.
But he said no one was killed.
Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez offered to resign on Sunday.
But President Emmanuel Macron said no.
Macron's office said the police still needed a leader.
Macron also asked Nuñez to be fully open about mistakes in planning and information-gathering.
He asked for new police methods on the ground as fast as possible.
Nuñez said he resigned because he was responsible for what happened.
He also said the authorities had "lost control" in some big cities on Saturday.
The violence came after protests across the country on Saturday.
People were angry about the rising cost of living and bad conditions in schools.
At least 2,400 people were arrested.
Authorities said at least 3,000 businesses were damaged or looted.
In Limoges, fire covered the 19th-century City Hall.
The fire made its roof fall down.
Jordan Bardella is president of the far-right National Rally party.
He said the government failed in its duty to protect the French people.
