Chicago Bears right tackle Darnell Wright has inked a lucrative contract extension, thereby dispelling a pivotal ambiguity that had cast a shadow over the franchise as the season loomed on the horizon.

The Bears announced the four-year agreement on Tuesday, proclaiming via social media, “The Wright Tackle is here to stay.”

Wright’s $116 million contract encompasses $93 million in guaranteed money, as disclosed by an individual with knowledge of the accord who spoke to Reporters on condition of anonymity, given that neither party had yet publicly confirmed the terms.

Per ESPN, this contract constitutes the most substantial agreement ever secured for a right tackle, encompassing the highest quantum of guaranteed remuneration for an offensive lineman in the annals of NFL history.

Selected as the tenth overall pick in the 2023 draft from Tennessee, Wright served as the cornerstone of an offensive line that not only propelled the Bears to a third-place standing in NFL rushing statistics last season but also played a pivotal role in their triumphant capture of the NFC North title, while simultaneously earning second-team All-Pro accolades.
