A judge declared a mistrial Friday in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy after jurors failed to reach a verdict.
The case drew intense national attention to maternal mental health after childbirth.
Clancy, a 36-year-old former labor and delivery nurse, admitted to killing her three children in 2023.
Her lawyer argued she suffered from postpartum psychosis, a rare mental illness.
Prosecutors said she knew what she was doing when she strangled the children, aged 5, 3, and 8 months.
The mistrial came on the seventh day of deliberations.
Clancy's lawyer blamed one juror for blocking a verdict, saying the juror would not follow the judge's instructions.
The prosecutor said there would be no immediate decision about a second trial, adding that public opinion would not be a factor.
Clancy remains charged with murder and is expected to stay at a psychiatric hospital.
Her ex-husband, Patrick Clancy, has said he forgives her and believes her actions resulted from mental illness.
His lawyer said the prospect of another trial is "extraordinarily painful."
