This helped companies with big fuel bills.

United Airlines rose 4.8%.

Southwest rose 3.6%.

Carnival rose 4.2%.

Marriott rose 4.3% on strong hotel results.

Idexx Laboratories jumped 21.8%.

It beat profit and revenue forecasts.

It also raised its 2026 outlook.

The S&P 500 closed at 7,541.40.

The Dow closed at 51,983.98.

The Nasdaq closed at 25,164.32.

A report said U.S. manufacturing grew more than expected last month.

Prices rose more slowly.

Indexes rose in Europe.

South Korea's Kospi jumped 2.2%.

China's central bank said about 100 billion yuan ($15 billion) would be deployed.

This is under a new program to help support the market.
