President Donald Trump will announce something on Wednesday.
South Korea will invest about $54 billion in Alaska.
The money is for a natural gas project.
The White House confirmed the plan.
Bloomberg reported it first.
The project is important to Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan.
He has wanted it for a long time.
He is in a close race for reelection in Alaska.
The money comes from a 2025 trade deal with South Korea.
That deal promised $350 billion in U.S. investments.
In return, the U.S. would lower tariffs on South Korean cars.
It would also lower tariffs on auto parts and other products.
The Alaska project includes a pipeline.
It is 807 miles long.
It goes from the North Slope to a gas export terminal.
The terminal is in southern Alaska.
The White House said the project will lower energy costs for people in Alaska.
It will give them a steady supply.
This is the second time this week Trump talked about foreign investment.
He talked about a state with a close Republican Senate race.
On Monday, he announced a $15 billion steel plant in Iowa.
A Minnesota company will build it.
An Indian conglomerate owns that company.
Republican Rep. Ashley Hinson spoke at that event.
She is running for Senate in Iowa.
Alaska and Iowa are states where Democrats want to win.
They want Republican Senate seats in the 2026 midterms.
The midterms are less than five weeks away.
Democrats need four more seats to control the Senate.
Voters are worried about fuel prices.
Prices are near record highs.
This is tied to the war with Iran.
The war is not resolved.
A poll in late July found something.
Only about one-third of Americans liked how Trump handled the economy.
