Or pressure from President Donald Trump's team caused it.

The deals also stop a threat.

Hospitals will not turn over patient records.

The Justice Department says some providers agreed to help pay medical costs.

This money is for children to "detransition."

The hospitals did not admit to any wrongdoing.

Last week, the Justice Department announced deals with NYU Langone Hospitals.

It also announced deals with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centers.

Both agreed not to give puberty blockers to patients under 19.

They also agreed not to give hormones or gender-affirming surgery.

NYU agreed to pay $8.5 million.

UPMC agreed to pay $950,000.

There were similar deals since May.

These were with Cleveland Clinic and Connecticut Children's Hospital.

They were also with Mount Sinai Health System and Texas Children's Hospital.

The hospitals said the deals will not change their programs.

Their pediatric mental healthcare programs will still treat transgender children the same way.

The Trump administration published a review last year.

It urged therapy only for youth.

It did not urge broader gender-affirming care.

But major medical groups support keeping treatment available.

These groups include the American Medical Association.

They also include the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Many hospitals and clinics still offer this care.

Individual physicians still offer it too.

At least 27 states have laws restricting or barring this care for minors.

More than two dozen hospitals and clinics stopped offering it since last year.

These are in states without bans.
