A court might let former President Donald Trump keep control of California's National Guard. These soldiers were sent to Los Angeles because of protests about immigration. Before this, another court told Trump to give control back to Governor Gavin Newsom. Newsom did not agree with sending the soldiers and said Trump used too much power. This case is important because it could change how much power a president has to use soldiers in U.S. cities. This is the first time since 1965 that a president has used a state's National Guard without the governor's permission. The judges, some chosen by Trump and one by Biden, think presidents have a lot of power in this situation. But they did not agree that courts cannot question Trump's decision. The judges will make a decision soon.
