For the first time, some parts of Alaska will get a heat warning. This is a new warning from the National Weather Service. It replaces the old "special weather statements." This change helps people understand how serious and dangerous the hot weather can be. The first warning is for Fairbanks, where it will be hotter than 85 degrees Fahrenheit. This is very hot for June. This new warning is not about climate change. But it shows that hot weather can affect Alaska, especially where homes do not have air conditioning. Right now, only Juneau and Fairbanks use this warning. But they plan to use it in Anchorage later. Even though it is hot, Anchorage has not been hot enough yet for a heat warning.
