The charges came from a traffic stop in 2022 in Tennessee. Abrego Garcia was driving nine people, and the police thought he was bringing them illegally. But they only gave him a warning and let him go. Before the court meeting, government lawyers said Abrego Garcia was a danger to the community and might try to escape.
