Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has said she will continue the Trump administration's strict immigration policies, even though there are ongoing protests. This happened after a federal judge issued a temporary order, saying that sending National Guard troops to protests was against the law. But then, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals stopped this order. The judge's order only applied to National Guard troops, not Marines, who were sent out after protests started because of the immigration policies. Governor Gavin Newsom, who wanted an immediate stop to troops helping with immigration arrests, supported the judge's decision. At the same time, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly defended the president’s actions, saying he acted within his power. Protests are still happening all over the country, and immigration agents in Los Angeles are showing other communities what to do. Even with this, Noem has confirmed that federal authorities will not give up.
