Khaby Lame, a famous TikTok star, has left the U.S. He was stopped by immigration officers in Las Vegas because they believe he stayed too long on his visa.
Seringe Khabane Lame, an influencer from Senegal and Italy, was stopped at the airport in Las Vegas on Friday. He was allowed to leave the country and was not told to leave by immigration officers, according to a statement.
Lame came to the U.S. on April 30 and stayed longer than his visa allowed, an ICE spokesperson said. The Associated Press sent an email to Lame's Instagram account to ask for his comments. He has not said anything in public about being held.
He was stopped and decided to leave the U.S. because President Trump was making immigration rules much harder. For example, there were police actions in Los Angeles that made people protest against ICE. The president is trying to see how much power he has.
Lame was allowed to leave the U.S. by choice. This means he will not have a deportation on his official papers. If he had a deportation, he might not be able to come back to the U.S. for up to ten years.
He is 25 years old and became famous around the world during the pandemic. He didn't speak in his videos, but he showed himself reacting to very strange "life hacks." He has over 162 million people following him on TikTok.
The influencer was born in Senegal, but he moved to Italy when he was a baby. His parents worked hard. He is now an Italian citizen. He quickly became famous online. In 2022, he started working with the brand Hugo Boss for several years. In January, he became a UNICEF ambassador.
Last month, he went to the Met Gala in New York City. He had only been in the U.S. for a few days before he went to the event.
