For the first time, some parts of Alaska will get a heat warning. This is a new rule from the weather service. They used to call it "special weather statements." They want to show how dangerous the hot weather can be, not just that it's hotter than before. The first warning is for Fairbanks, where it will be more than 85 degrees. This is not normal for June. This change is not about climate change. But it means that hot weather can affect Alaska, especially where people do not have air conditioning. Right now, only Juneau and Fairbanks can use this warning system. But they plan to use it in Anchorage soon. Even though it is hot, Anchorage is not hot enough yet for a heat warning.
