Pete Crow-Armstrong joined the 40-40 club on Thursday.

He stole his 40th base to go with his major league-leading 45 home runs.

The Chicago Cubs beat the Miami Marlins 2-1 and clinched their second straight postseason berth.

Seiya Suzuki homered for the Cubs (88-71), who secured one of the NL's three wild card spots.

Chicago was also a wild card last year.

The Cubs beat San Diego in the first round and lost to Milwaukee in a Division Series.

This is their first run of consecutive postseason appearances since four straight from 2015-18.

That stretch included their 2016 championship, their first since 1908.

Crow-Armstrong is a favorite to win the NL MVP award.

He became the seventh 40-40 player, joining a group that includes Shohei Ohtani and Ronald Acuña Jr.

Jose Canseco was the first, with the 1988 Oakland Athletics.

The 24-year-old walked in the first inning and stole second on the next pitch.

Fans chanted "MVP" as the Wrigley Field videoboard announced the feat.

Matthew Boyd (10-5) allowed one run and five hits over seven innings.

Ryan Zeferjahn pitched a perfect ninth for his seventh save.

Ian Happ tripled in the sixth and scored on Nico Hoerner's single to break a 1-1 tie.

Miami (78-81) was assured its third straight non-winning season.
