Some international tennis players at the French Open have complained about the difficult atmosphere when they play against French opponents, saying it felt like a very intense football game. The crowd's bad behavior, such as booing, whistling, and shouting insults, caused the organizers to stop selling alcohol in the stands last year. Some players, like Nicolás Jarry from Chile, have called their experiences "disgusting" and the worst of their lives. Because of this negative crowd behavior, the tournament director, Amélie Mauresmo, said security has been increased. Also, chair umpires can now do more to stop and report bad behavior. However, not all players are bothered by the difficult atmosphere. For example, Belgian player Elise Mertens said it's a normal part of tennis. French player Corentin Moutet agreed that playing at home creates pressure and told players to just ignore it.
