Freddie Freeman got two hits and a triple when the bases were full, and the Los Angeles Dodgers won against the Miami Marlins 10-1 on Wednesday.
Freeman helped his team score four runs and hit safely in his twelfth game in a row. The Dodgers, who are leading Major League Baseball, won two out of three games in Miami and won their fourth series in a row. Freeman had a great series, getting 8 hits in 13 chances, with six runs batted in and two home runs.
On Wednesday, Shohei Ohtani hit a triple and got three walks, including one on purpose, during a big part of the game against the pitcher Lake Bachar.
Player James Outman hit a home run with three runners to increase the Dodgers' lead in the ninth inning.
Landon Knack (2-0) did not let the other team score any runs and only allowed four hits. He also struck out five players. He joined the team on Wednesday from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Matt Sauer also joined the team and pitched the last four innings after Knack. This was his first save.
Miami's starting pitcher, Valente Bellozo, had a good game. He only allowed one hit and struck out seven batters in more than five innings without giving up any runs. Another pitcher, Cade Gibson, took over for Bellozo in the sixth inning, just before Bellozo would have had to face Ohtani again. In his first try against Gibson, Ohtani hit a triple.
Young catcher Augustin Ramirez hit one single and one double for the Marlins team (14 wins, 22 losses), who have won only 2 of their last 11 games.
Jesús Sánchez hit a single in the sixth inning and scored Miami’s only point with a sacrifice fly in the ninth.
In the seventh inning, the Dodgers scored many runs against Bachar. He allowed players to walk or hit the ball, bringing in runs. After walking Ohtani and Betts, Freeman hit a triple that scored all players on base, and another hit brought in a run.
The Dodgers only got one hit in the first five innings against Bellozo, but then they got 11 hits against four other Miami pitchers.
The Dodgers will play four games in Arizona starting Thursday. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, a right-handed pitcher with a record of 4 wins and 2 losses and an earned run average of 0.90, will pitch for them on Thursday. The Marlins will not play on Thursday. On Friday, Max Meyer, a right-handed pitcher with a record of 2 wins and 3 losses and an earned run average of 3.92, will start their first game of a three-game series against the Chicago White Sox.
