Japan has a new top sumo wrestler, Onosato. He is the first Japanese wrestler to reach this high level since 2017. For many years, most top sumo wrestlers have been from Mongolia. Onosato is 24 years old and weighs 191 kilograms. His real name is Daiki Nakamura. He became a top wrestler after winning a big sumo competition. The Japan Sumo Association gave him this high rank. Onosato is from Ishikawa, an area that had a bad earthquake and tsunami in 2024. He promised to use his new position to help the people in his home area. Now, he will compete with Hoshoryu, another top wrestler from Mongolia. They will have a competition in July in Nagoya.
