Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors will not play in the next three games because he has a small injury in his left leg.
The Warriors announced that Curry would be out for at least a week following his injury on Tuesday night. He was forced to leave the game early in the second quarter, but the team still managed to win 99-88. Curry contributed 13 points in 13 minutes, helping Golden State establish a significant lead and secure home-court advantage against the Timberwolves.
Every year in the playoffs, teams have to change things. Sometimes it's the plan for the game, or maybe a player gets hurt, or the players on the team change. So, we just need to change too. We have done this in the past, and we believe we can do it again.
Game 2 is in Minneapolis on Thursday. Then the games go to San Francisco for Game 3 on Saturday and Game 4 on Monday. Curry might come back earliest for Game 5 on May 14. After Game 5, there are three days without games before Game 6 on May 18.
Curry has never had a bad leg muscle injury before, so we don't know how long he will be away. We also don't know if his team, the Warriors, can play well without him. He is the player who has made the most three-point shots in NBA history. It is not smart for them to think they can win without him until he comes back.
Kerr said, "We think our team is the best at defense, and we have shown this in the last few months."
But today's Golden State team is not as strong as the teams before. In the past, Curry and Draymond Green were younger. Also, Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala were very important for their wins. In 2018, they also had Kevin Durant.
After the first game, the Warriors were happy because everyone played hard, especially Jimmy Butler, Buddy Hield, and Green. Their coach also used 12 different players.
When Curry is not playing, Butler will have the ball a lot, like he did on Tuesday. Butler joined the team three months ago and helped the Warriors play better on offense and defense. In the last game, he scored 20 points, got 11 rebounds, and made eight assists. He scored 20 or more points in four of the five games he played in the first series.
Everyone is ready to play. Everyone who plays wants to do well," said Mike Conley, a player for the Timberwolves. "So you need to focus more on the game and the player you are guarding and what they usually do. Because they are not only looking for Curry. Of course, Buddy will try harder, Jimmy will try harder, but they have players who can score points, and they might try to do it together as a team.
