Serhou Guirassy and Borussia Dortmund achieved something unique in 2025: they defeated Barcelona. However, this victory was not enough for them to reach the Champions League semifinals.

Even though Guirassy scored three goals, his team lost the match 3-1 to Dortmund. This was Barcelona's first loss since December. However, because of this result, Barcelona lost the total game 5-3.

Because they lost 4-0 in the first game of the quarterfinal, Dortmund had nothing to lose on Tuesday. They attacked Barcelona from the start, which made the visitors uncomfortable.

Barcelona's coach, Hansi Flick, who has often played against and beaten Dortmund in Germany, said he expected a difficult second game because of the home fans, even though his team was four goals ahead.

"I had a feeling that something like this might happen," Flick said to Amazon Prime. "Today, we must congratulate Dortmund; they played well, and my team also deserves congratulations for reaching the semifinals."

Barcelona's main forwards, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski, who had scored 12 and 11 goals in the Champions League this season, didn't have many chances to score in this game. The closest one of them got to scoring was when Raphinha shot softly at the goalkeeper.

After a great game, coach Niko Kovac said Guirassy is very important for Dortmund, like "life insurance".

Dortmund probably lost the quarter-final in the first game. Also, their captain Emre Can and midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka could not play because they were injured earlier that day.

For a time, Guirassy made difficult things seem possible.

Guirassy had chances to score in the first game and missed more early in Tuesday's match, but he scored from a penalty after the Barcelona goalkeeper hit Pascal Gross.

Guirassy scored again with his head to make it 2-0 in the 49th minute, and then Ramy Bensebaini accidentally scored in his own net, which made the game much more difficult for Dortmund.

Guirassy took advantage of Ronald Araujo's mistake in defence to score his third goal from close range in the 76th minute. Because of this, he became the top scorer in the Champions League this season with 13 goals.

This result gave Dortmund new hope that they could make a great comeback in the Champions League, like Barcelona did against Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, but Barcelona kept their lead and won.

Barcelona will play against either Inter Milan or Bayern Munich in the semifinals. This is the first time since the 2018-19 season that Barcelona has reached this stage of the Champions League. In the other game on Tuesday, PSG moved into the semifinals by winning 5-4 over Aston Villa over two matches, even though they lost the second match 3-2.

This was Barcelona's first loss in any competition since December 21st. It was also their first Champions League loss since September. This was only the seventh loss in Flick's 50 games as coach. The German coach had won his previous seven games against Dortmund when he was the coach of Barcelona and Bayern.

Dortmund might not hear the Champions League song at their stadium for some time.

Last year, the team that was second in the Champions League is now eighth in the German league. They have five games left and are six points behind the top four teams, who will play in the Champions League next year.
