Many tennis players from other countries at the French Open have complained about the unfriendly atmosphere when they play against French opponents. They say it feels like a very intense football game. The crowd's aggressive actions, like booing and shouting insults, made the organizers stop selling alcohol in the stands last year. Some players, for example, Nicolás Jarry from Chile, have called their experiences "disgusting" and the worst they have ever had. Because of this negative crowd behavior, the tournament director, Amélie Mauresmo, said that security has been increased. Also, umpires now have more power to stop and report bad behavior. However, not all players are bothered by this unfriendly atmosphere. Belgian player Elise Mertens said it's a normal part of tennis. French player Corentin Moutet agreed that playing at home creates pressure but told players to try and ignore it.
