Shohei Ohtani, a well-known Japanese baseball player, is now the third player in Dodgers history to hit 20 home runs within the first 55 games of the season. This achievement places him alongside Gil Hodges and Cody Bellinger. It's also only the 64th time any player in the major leagues has done this in the same period, with the last one being Pete Alonso in 2023. Ohtani, who has won the MVP award three times and leads the major leagues in home runs, scored with a two-run hit in a game against the Cleveland Guardians. This is the fourth time this season Ohtani has hit a home run to the opposite side of the field. Interestingly, even when Ohtani doesn't hit the ball perfectly, it can still be a home run. He has also hit home runs in three games in a row twice this season. Ohtani, who has been selected as an All-Star four times, has hit at least 12 home runs in a month three times since joining the Dodgers.
