President Donald Trump's team asked the Supreme Court on Thursday.

They want fast deportations to third countries to continue.

The government wants to stop lower court orders right away.

Those orders say people must have a chance to object.

They must object before going to a country that is not their home.

The judges let the deportation flights continue for a short time.

This happened when the case came to them last year.

Then an appeals court agreed with a Boston judge.

That judge made a final ruling.

The ruling says migrants must have a real chance to argue.

They can argue that a third country would put them in danger.

They could face persecution or torture.

The ruling did not ban those deportations.

But it makes the process longer.

The government says the ruling already canceled a flight.

That flight carried 70 people with criminal convictions.

They were going to three countries.

Solicitor General D. John Sauer wrote about this.

He said the government removed thousands of aliens to third countries in recent months.

He said thousands more can be removed this way.

The administration says it sends people to third countries.

It does this when it cannot quickly return them home.

Attorneys said those third-country governments give assurances.

They say people will not be persecuted or tortured.

James Percival is the general counsel for the Department of Homeland Security.

He spoke Wednesday on X.

He said 25,000 people in the U.S. illegally were deported to third countries.

He called those deportations an essential public safety tool.

Most deportees were sent to Mexico.

The administration also deported thousands of others.

This happened under often-secret agreements.

They went to more than two dozen countries.

These countries include Liberia and Guyana.

Some deportees faced serious safety risks.

This month, lawyers spoke for two men.

These men were deported to Equatorial Guinea.

The lawyers said police beat them.

They said police held them at gunpoint.

This was in a hotel-turned-detention center.
