Iran's Revolutionary Guard did those attacks.

The U.S. destroyed five ships.

Their names are Kivik, Charminar, Horizon 1, Riesco, and Derya.

The ships were in the Gulf of Oman and near Kharg Island.

Central Command said crews were told to leave the ships before the strikes.

This came after U.S. strikes on three Iranian tankers.

Those strikes were three days earlier.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the U.S. will answer Iran's attacks.

He said Iran will lose tankers every time it tries to hit U.S. ships.

Iran expert Danny Citrinowicz warned about the strikes.

He said they risk more retaliation.

He said they harm the global economy.

He said there is no military answer to the Strait of Hormuz problem.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Navy warned tanker crews near Kuwait and Bahrain.

They told them to leave their ships.

The U.S. also put new sanctions on Iran's aviation industry.

Both sides want control of the Strait of Hormuz.
