After Iran attacked a U.S. base in Qatar with missiles, President Trump announced a "complete ceasefire" between Israel and Iran. This happened because America had bombed Iran's nuclear sites. However, the ceasefire's future became uncertain when more Iranian missiles hit Israel.
When the sun came up, Iranian attacks made Israelis rush into bomb shelters. These attacks killed at least four people and hurt eight others, according to Israel's Magen David Adom rescue services. Israel has not yet replied to Trump's idea, which might give Israel more time to fight back. However, Iran announced on its state television that a ceasefire started at 7:30 a.m. local time.
In Beersheba, rescue workers reported finding four bodies in one building and continued their search for more. The streets near the impact site were covered with glass and debris, and windows were blown out of buildings. Worried neighbors stood outside their damaged homes. Three people were also rescued from nearby buildings.
The biggest city in southern Israel was directly hit. This happened just a few days after a missile strike badly damaged its hospital.
After Iran attacked a U.S. military base in Qatar with missiles to get back at America for bombing its nuclear sites, President Trump announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a full ceasefire. Iran's Foreign Minister said they would stop their attacks if Israel stopped theirs by 4 a.m. Tehran time on Tuesday. However, Israel's military later reported that Iran had launched more missiles about an hour after that time.
After Iran attacked a U.S. military base in Qatar to get back at America for bombing its nuclear sites, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a "complete ceasefire." However, the ceasefire was not certain because more Iranian missiles hit Israel even after the first deadline for the agreement. Israeli firefighters found four bodies in a building in Beersheba that was hit by an Iranian missile.
Trump announced a "complete and total ceasefire" between Israel and Iran. This happened after Iran attacked a U.S. military base in Qatar with missiles. Iran said this attack was in response to the U.S. bombing its nuclear sites. However, Israel has not confirmed Trump's announcement about the ceasefire.
Trump announced on Truth Social that the war would officially end with a ceasefire that would begin around midnight Washington time.
More than an hour after the first part of the ceasefire, which asked Iran to stop its attacks, Trump wrote: "THE CEASEFIRE HAS STARTED. PLEASE DO NOT BREAK IT! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!"
Israel didn't immediately confirm a ceasefire, but there were no reports of Israeli attacks in Iran after 4 a.m. in Tehran. Before that, Israel had carried out many strong attacks in Iranian cities. In past conflicts, Israel has sometimes increased its attacks just before a ceasefire began.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on X that there is no agreement yet for a ceasefire. However, he added that if Israel stops its illegal attacks on Iranians by 4 am Tehran time, Iran will not continue its response.
His message was posted at 4:16 a.m. Tehran time. Araghchi also said that the final decision about ending their military actions would be made later.
The Israeli military chose not to comment on Trump's ceasefire statement, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office has not yet replied to requests for comments.
In Israel, at least 24 people have died and over 1,000 have been hurt in the war. Israeli attacks on Iran have killed at least 974 people and injured 3,458 others, according to Human Rights Activists, a group from Washington.
The group, which has given exact numbers of people killed in Iranian protests, for example, after Mahsa Amini's death in 2022, reported that 387 of those who died were civilians and 268 were security personnel.
A State Department official said that the U.S. has helped about 250 American citizens and their close family members leave Israel. They used government, military, and special planes, and this started over the weekend. It's thought that around 700,000 American citizens are in Israel, and most of them are also Israeli citizens.
