U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a "complete ceasefire" after Iran attacked a U.S. military base in Qatar with missiles. Iran's attack was a response to America bombing its nuclear sites. However, the ceasefire was still uncertain after more Iranian missiles hit Israel, even after the first deadline for the agreement.
When the sun came up, Iranian attacks made Israelis go into bomb shelters quickly. According to Israel's Magen David Adom rescue services, at least four people died and eight were hurt. Israel has not yet replied to Trump's suggestion, which might give them more time to fight back. However, Iranian state television announced that a general ceasefire began at 7:30 a.m. local time.
In Beersheba, rescue workers found four bodies in one building and continued searching for more. The streets around where the missile hit were covered with glass and debris, and windows were broken. Worried neighbors stood outside their damaged houses, and three people were rescued from nearby buildings.
The biggest city in southern Israel was directly hit, just a few days after its hospital was badly damaged by a missile attack.
After Iran attacked a U.S. military base in Qatar with missiles on Monday, President Trump announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a "complete ceasefire." This attack was Iran's response to the U.S. bombing its nuclear sites. Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, said that Iran would stop its attacks if Israel stopped theirs by 4 a.m. Tehran time on Tuesday. However, the Israeli military warned its public on Tuesday that Iran had launched more missiles towards Israel almost an hour after that time.
After Iran attacked a US military base in Qatar with missiles, President Trump announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a "complete ceasefire." This attack was in response to the US bombing Iran's nuclear sites. However, the ceasefire was not certain because Iran launched more missiles at Israel, even after the first deadline. Israeli firefighters found four bodies in a building in Beersheba that was hit by an Iranian missile.
Trump announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a "complete ceasefire." This announcement came shortly after Iran launched a missile attack on a U.S. military base in Qatar. Iran's attack was in response to America bombing its nuclear sites. However, Israel has not confirmed Trump's ceasefire announcement.
Trump announced on Truth Social that the war would officially end when the ceasefire started around midnight in Washington.
More than an hour after the temporary ceasefire began, which asked Iran to stop its attacks, Trump announced: "THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!"
Israel didn't immediately confirm a ceasefire, and no Israeli attacks were reported in Iran after 4 a.m. Tehran time. Before that, Israel had carried out strong attacks in Iranian cities. In past conflicts, Israel has sometimes increased its attacks just before a ceasefire began.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on X that there is no agreement yet for a ceasefire or to stop military actions. However, he added that if Israel stops its illegal attacks against Iranians by 4 am Tehran time, Iran will not continue its response.
His message was posted at 4:16 a.m. Tehran time. Araghchi also said that the decision to end their military actions would be made later.
The Israeli military did not comment on Trump's ceasefire statement, and Benjamin Netanyahu's office has not yet replied to questions.
In Israel, the war has caused at least 24 deaths and over 1,000 injuries. Additionally, Israeli attacks on Iran have resulted in at least 974 deaths and 3,458 injuries, according to Human Rights Activists, a group based in Washington.
The group, which has given exact numbers of people killed in Iranian protests, like those after Mahsa Amini's death in 2022, stated that among the dead, 387 were civilians and 268 were security staff.
The U.S. has helped about 250 American citizens and their close family members leave Israel. They used government, military, and special flights that started over the weekend, according to a State Department official. It's thought that around 700,000 American citizens are currently in Israel, and most of them are also Israeli citizens.
