An Air India plane crash resulted in 241 deaths, but only one person, Vishwashkumar Ramesh, survived. This unusual event has caused a lot of discussion online about how rare such incidents are. Ramesh was reportedly thrown from the plane and, even though he was confused and hurt, he managed to walk to an ambulance for help. There have been other times in the past when only one person survived similar disasters. For example, Cecelia Crocker survived a 1987 crash that killed 154 people, including her family, when the plane's wing hit a light pole as it was taking off. George Lamson Jr. survived a 1985 crash in Reno, and Bahia Bakari survived a Yemenia Airways flight crash near the Comoro Islands in 2009. Also, Jim Polehinke was the only survivor of a 2006 Comair flight crash in Lexington, Kentucky.
