After President Javier Milei stopped the government agency (DADSE) that provided expensive medicine for cancer patients, a secret Facebook group has started. This group connects people who have extra medicine with those who need it. Milei's budget cuts have seriously damaged Argentina's public health system. The healthcare budget was cut by almost half, many Health Ministry employees lost their jobs, and programs for early cancer detection and vaccinations were stopped. This situation has caused a large increase in the price of prescription medicine and private health plans, and medical care for older people has been greatly reduced. Because there isn't healthcare for everyone and costs are higher, Argentina is moving towards a healthcare system similar to the U.S. Milei's staff cuts have also made it difficult to plan vaccinations and collect health information, which led to the country's first measles outbreak in decades. These cuts have also caused a rise in sexually transmitted infections, including a 20% increase in HIV cases and a 50% increase in syphilis cases. Sadly, over 60 cancer patients have reportedly died because the DADSE medicine program was stopped, and more than 1,500 patients are still waiting for their medicine.
