Khaby Lame, the very popular TikTok personality with millions of followers, has left the U.S. after being held by immigration officials in Las Vegas. This was reportedly because he stayed longer than his visa allowed.

Seringe Khabane Lame, an influencer from Senegal and Italy, was held at Harry Reid International Airport on Friday. However, a spokesperson for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed that he was allowed to leave the country without being deported.

An ICE representative stated that Lame arrived in the U.S. on April 30th and then stayed longer than his visa allowed. The Associated Press contacted the email address on Lame's Instagram profile on Tuesday to ask for a comment, but he has not yet said anything publicly about being detained.

His detention and voluntary departure from the U.S. happened while President Donald Trump was increasing his strictness on immigration. This included raids in Los Angeles that caused protests against ICE, as the president was testing how far his executive power could go.

Lame was granted a voluntary departure, which means people facing removal from the U.S. can avoid having a deportation order on their immigration record. This is important because a deportation order could stop them from being allowed back into the U.S. for as long as ten years.

The 25-year-old became globally famous during the pandemic, gaining over 162 million followers on TikTok. He achieved this mainly through his videos where he reacted silently to extremely complex "life hacks."

The influencer, who was born in Senegal, moved to Italy as a baby with his working-class parents and later became an Italian citizen. He quickly became famous on the internet. In 2022, he signed a multi-year deal with the designer brand Hugo Boss. This January, he was also named a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.

Subsequent to his recent arrival in the United States, he graced the Met Gala in New York City with his presence last month.
