Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has promised to continue the Trump administration's strict immigration rules, even though there are ongoing protests. This happened after a federal judge temporarily stopped the use of National Guard troops at protests, saying it was illegal. However, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals later canceled this order. The judge's order was only for National Guard troops, not Marines, who were sent out after protests started because of the immigration rules. Governor Gavin Newsom, who wanted an immediate stop to troops helping with immigration arrests, praised the judge's decision. At the same time, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said the president's actions were right, stating he acted within his legal powers. Protests are still happening across the country, with immigration officers in Los Angeles setting an example for other areas. Despite this, Noem has repeated that federal authorities will not give up.
