This decision is in line with the Trump administration's strict actions against international students, which included revoking Harvard University's right to enroll international students and canceling the legal status of many international students already in the US. The Biden administration also continued the policy of checking visa applicants' social media accounts. A long delay in scheduling student visas could disrupt students' plans to enroll in summer and fall terms, and fewer international students could negatively affect university budgets.
