The event runs for five days and shows about 3,000 products.

Organizers said no other countries were exhibiting despite the conference's name.

Unitree, a leading Chinese humanoid robot maker, drew large crowds.

Its robots boxed, danced, and played ping pong with a human.

The conference opened on the same day Unitree made its stock market debut in Shanghai.

The event comes weeks after the U.S. Federal Communications Commission banned imports of new foreign-made humanoid robots and quadruped robots.

The agency cited national security risks, including cybersecurity threats.

The move targets China.

UBTECH, another major robotics company, showed industrial models that moved components like factory workers.

Its emotional-care humanoid can talk, make facial expressions, and move its hands.

It costs 168,000 yuan, or more than $24,000, and is available to individual buyers.

Experts said many humanoid robots still impress as performers rather than practical workers.

At one booth, a helper robot tried to fold a shirt.

After several minutes, it failed the simple household task.
