King Charles III met with leaders from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind and Nvidia on Thursday.

He urged them to keep artificial intelligence under control.

He also said it should serve people and the planet.

The meeting took place in Scotland at Dumfries House in Ayrshire.

This is the headquarters of his charity, The King's Foundation.

The king said the development of AI and its pace are both intriguing and deeply concerning.

He warned that these technologies could fall into the wrong hands.

They could then be used in catastrophic ways.

He asked whether there are enough means of control before it is too late.

He also asked attendees to consider the fundamental principles that should guide AI development.

Those at the meeting included Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Google DeepMind Chair Demis Hassabis.

OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar and Britain's AI Minister Kanishka Narayan were also there.

An Anthropic representative was also expected to attend.

The meeting comes as global attention focuses on AI's rapid progress.

There are also warnings that it could race out of control.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has said the industry might need to slow its work.

He proposed a coordinated plan for such a slowdown.

Huang has criticized that call.

He said companies should develop AI safely and test it before release.

OpenAI reported six incidents of unexpected or concerning behavior by its models on Wednesday.
