Amazon has announced a new warehouse robot called Vulcan. This robot is designed to sense some of the objects it comes into contact with.
The robot, called Vulcan, has two arms that help it move things in Amazon's storage areas. It has sensors that tell it when it touches something. One arm moves things around in a space, and the other arm, which has a camera and a suction cup, picks up things.
Amazon's robot, Vulcan, was trained using physical information like force and touch to select about 75% of Amazon's inventory. The company says it can improve its performance over time. Vulcan is currently being used in Spokane, Washington, and Hamburg, Germany, where it has already handled half a million orders.
Vulcan is the newest robot Amazon has in its warehouses. Amazon uses many robots to help with customer orders in its storage buildings around the world. Some people say Amazon uses robots to replace workers, but Amazon says robots like Vulcan just make the warehouses safer.
