OpenAI expects to pay less of its money to Microsoft by 2030 than it pays now, according to a report.
This week, OpenAI changed their plan. The part of the company that makes money will become a special type of company. But the part that does not make money will still control it.
OpenAI gives 20% of its money to Microsoft now. But the company told people who invest that it will give only 10% of its money to partners like Microsoft by the year 2030. The Information newspaper said this.
Microsoft has given a lot of money to OpenAI. They have an agreement until 2030 to share the money they make. Microsoft can also use OpenAI's ideas in their AI products. They also have special use of OpenAI's services on their Azure computer system.
Bloomberg said on Monday that Microsoft has not yet agreed to OpenAI's plan for how it will be organized. This is because Microsoft wants to protect the large amount of money it has invested in OpenAI.
OpenAI and Microsoft did not answer quickly when people asked them for their opinion.
