Google's app for iPhones has a new feature called "Simplify". It uses AI to make hard words on websites easier to understand. You can use it without leaving the website.
Simplify is a tool from Google. It helps make difficult writing easier to read. It uses Gemini to help people understand and remember the main points. Google tested it and found that people understood the text better.
Google wants people to use its own tools to understand difficult things.
To use Simplify, select any text on a website you are viewing in the Google app. Then, tap the "Simplify" button that appears. You will then see a simpler version of the text, which will help you understand the information and continue reading.
Google's research blog shows an example of this feature. For example, you might read a sentence like: "This disease harms the lungs in several ways. It damages the lung tissue, makes it thick, changes the cells that fight illness, creates substances that affect how the body fights illness, and changes the blood vessels in the lungs."
This difficult problem includes harm to the lung tissue from emphysema. Emphysema is a sickness that harms the air bags in the lungs. It also includes many scars on the lung tissue, called fibrosis. The body's special cells in the lungs change. The body makes more things that control these special cells. The blood paths in the lungs also change a lot.
Google says this feature helps people understand difficult things they find when learning online.
Google said in a blog post: "We want our models to explain difficult ideas correctly, without mistakes or missing important facts. The new text should help people understand hard things without changing the meaning of the first text."
Simplify is coming to iPhones for users this week.
