Elon Musk says Tesla plans to start a robot taxi service in Austin, Texas, around June 22.

Last month, Musk said the taxis will be watched by people from far away at first. They will only drive in safe parts of the city. He wants to start with about 10 taxis. Then, he will quickly add more. He plans to offer the service in Los Angeles, San Antonio, San Francisco, and other cities.

For ten years, Musk has been saying that self-driving cars will be ready very soon. Now, he needs to make it happen because Tesla is starting a taxi service with these cars. Tesla's car sales have gone down because other companies are selling more electric cars, they are changing the Model Y car, and because of Musk's interest in politics.

The new service in Austin started after Musk and President Trump had a big argument about taxes. Some people are worried that Trump might try to cause problems for the robotaxis. He could ask safety groups to look for any issues.
