TikTok is making its search better. Now, you can read reviews for some places right in the comments of a video. This means you don't need to search again or use Google when you see a place on TikTok and want to know more.
If you have this new feature on TikTok, you will see a new button called "Reviews" on the right when you look at the video's comments.
For example, if you see a video about Central Park in New York City and the person who made it adds the place, you can see what other people think about it. You can see their reviews and their photos, if they have any.
You can click on a reviewer's name to see their TikTok profile. This is different from the old Google Maps feature.
Some people might like the new feature, but others might think it makes the screen too busy when they look at things.
This is the newest way TikTok is trying to search for more things, like Google.
In 2022, a person from Google said that TikTok was taking users from its main services, like Search and Maps, especially young people. Today, TikTok is popular and is competing with Google in many areas.
TikTok is a popular app for young people to find places. Last year, they also added a feature where you can use a picture to find similar things to buy in their shop.
Also, in September 2024, TikTok started letting companies put their ads on the search results page. They made a new system called "TikTok Search Ads Campaigns." This system uses the words people search for to show ads for different brands in the search results.
We don't know if TikTok will let more people use the new reviews part. The company didn't want to talk about it before this was written. But when TechCrunch tried it, we only saw the reviews on some videos that had a place marked.
