TikTok now shows reviews for some places in video comments. This means you don't need to search again or use Google to find out more about a place you see on TikTok.
If you have this new feature on TikTok, you will see a "Reviews" tab on the right when you look at the comments for a video.
For example, if you watch a video of Central Park in New York City and the person who made it tells you where it is, you can see how many stars people gave the place, read what they wrote, and see their photos, if they put any there.
You can also click on a reviewer's name to see their TikTok page from here. This is different from an older link to Google Maps that had a Google Maps picture.
Some people might like the new feature, but others might think it makes looking at things more difficult.
This is the newest way TikTok is trying to search better and compete with Google.
In 2022, someone at Google said that TikTok was taking users from its main services, like Search and Maps, especially young people. Today, TikTok is popular in many areas where Google was the leader.
TikTok is a popular app for young people (Gen Z) to find places. Last year, TikTok added a new tool. With this tool, you can use a picture to find things like it in the TikTok Shop. You can take a new picture or use one you already have.
Also, from September 2024, TikTok started to show ads on its search page.
We don't know if TikTok will let everyone use the reviews part. The company didn't want to talk about it before we wrote this. When we tested it, only some videos with a place tag showed the reviews.
