Google's app for iPhones will have a new button called "Simplify." It uses AI to make hard words on websites easier to understand. You don't have to leave the web page to use it.
Simplify is a tool from Google that makes difficult text easier to read. It helps people understand and remember the important ideas. Google tested it and found that the easier text helped users understand and remember the information better.
Google added 'Simplify' to help people understand difficult things. They hope people will use Google's tools instead of other tools like ChatGPT.
To use Simplify, choose any words on a website you are looking at in the Google app. Then, tap the "Simplify" button that shows up. You will then see the words in an easier way. This helps you understand the information and keep reading.
On Google's research blog, they show an example of how this feature could look. For example, you might see a part that says: "This illness is complicated and hurts the lungs in many ways. It breaks down lung tissue, makes scars, changes the lung's defense cells, makes more things that affect the defense system, and changes the blood vessels in the lungs."
This is a difficult lung problem. It has two main parts: emphysema and fibrosis. Emphysema hurts the small air sacs in the lungs. Fibrosis makes many scars in the lung tissue. The body's defense cells in the lungs change. The body also makes more things that help control the defense system. The blood tubes in the lungs change a lot too.
Google says the feature helps people understand difficult topics they find when learning online.
Google said: "We want our models to explain difficult ideas simply and correctly. The new words should help people understand hard topics, but they must keep the main meaning."
Simplify will be ready for people with iPhones and iPads this week.
