On Tuesday, Google said they are starting to test a new version of their AI model, Gemini 2.5 Pro.
You can use Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview (I/O edition) with the Gemini API and Google's Vertex AI and AI Studio. It costs the same as the Gemini 2.5 Pro that it replaces. You can also use it in Google's Gemini app on your computer or phone.
Google is showing this new model before their big yearly meeting called I/O. At this meeting, Google will show many new models and AI tools. Google wants to be the best in the difficult race for AI. Other companies like OpenAI and xAI will also show their very good models soon.
Google says the new Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview is much better at helping people write computer programs and make websites. It is also better at changing and fixing computer programs.
Google said in a blog post that Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview (I/O edition) is number one in a test called WebDev Arena. This test checks how well a model can make good-looking and useful websites. Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview (I/O edition) is also very good at understanding videos. It scored 84.8% in a test called VideoMME.
Google said the new Gemini 2.5 Pro will help people who write code do a better job. It will also fix problems that these people talked about. For example, it will make fewer mistakes when using special commands and make these commands work more often. Google also said the program is good at making websites look nice, and you can still tell it what you want it to do.
