Two companies that make computer programs might start fighting. Figma sent a letter to another company, Lovable, and said 'Stop'.
The letter says Lovable must not use the name 'Dev Mode'. Figma uses this name. Last year, Figma got the right to use this name.
Dev mode is a special setting in computer programs. People who make programs use it. Big companies like Apple and Google use this name.
Many people use "dev mode." For example, Atlassian used it before. Many free computer programs also use this name.
Figma says 'Dev Mode' is their special name. It's like saying 'bug' is special, but not 'debugging'.
Figma has to send letters. This is to keep its name special. If not, anyone can use the name.
Some people online say this word is for everyone. They say it cannot be a special name for one company. They think Lovable must fight.
Anton from Lovable says they will not change the name.
Maybe Figma will go to court. Figma is also busy with other things. Figma wants to sell shares to people soon. But going to court costs a lot of money for the small company Lovable. Lovable is from Sweden and got some money in February.
Also, Lovable is good at making code from words. You write what you want, and it makes the code. Now, you can also change the code it makes.
Lovable says it is like Figma, but easier. Many new companies use it.
This is not just a fight about a name.
Someone from Figma said something similar.
Osika from Lovable says Figma should make their product good. He says Lovable is getting customers from Figma.
Dylan Field said these products are not a big problem.
Field said people like fast "vibe coding." But people need to finish their work. They need to do more than start fast. This is a problem for design and code.
Osika is ready to compete. He shared the letter and used a happy face.
