Japan has a new sumo champion named Onosato. He is the first Japanese champion since 2017. Before him, most champions were from Mongolia. Onosato is 24 years old and weighs 191 kilograms. His real name is Daiki Nakamura. He became champion after winning a big sumo competition. He is from Ishikawa, an area that had a bad earthquake and tsunami in 2024. Onosato wants to help the people in his home area. He will compete against Hoshoryu, who is also a champion from Mongolia, in July.
