Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors will not play in the next three games because his leg muscle is a little hurt.
The Warriors said Curry will not play for at least a week because of an injury on Tuesday night. He had to leave the game early, but the Warriors still won 99-88. Curry scored 13 points in 13 minutes. This helped Golden State get a good lead and win at home against the Timberwolves.
Coach Steve Kerr said that in the playoffs each year, teams must change because of things like how they plan to play, if players get hurt, or if the team changes players. He said his team has done this before and believes they can do it again.
Game 2 is in Minneapolis on Thursday. Then the games move to San Francisco for Game 3 on Saturday and Game 4 on Monday. Curry might be back for Game 5 on May 14. After that, there are three days without games before Game 6 on May 18.
Curry has never had a bad leg muscle problem before. We don't know how long he will be gone. Can the Warriors play well enough without their best 3-point shooter until he comes back near the end of the games? It's not smart to be sure that will happen.
Kerr said, "We think our defense is the best in the league, and we have shown this recently."
However, this Golden State team is not as good as the old teams. In the old teams, Curry and Draymond Green were younger. Also, Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala were very important for their success. By 2018, they also had Kevin Durant.
The Warriors were happy because everyone helped in the first game, especially Jimmy Butler, Buddy Hield, and Green. The coach used 12 different players.
Without Curry, Butler will have the ball most of the time, like he did on Tuesday.
Everyone is ready to play, and the players who join the game want to make good plays.
