Paris Saint-Germain faced many attacks from Arsenal but showed great flexibility on Wednesday. They managed to win 2-1 against a strong Arsenal team to reach the Champions League final. Now they have the chance to compete for the title they really want.
PSG didn't have the ball as much as usual, so they looked a bit unsure at first. But they used fast attacks and their goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to win the game 3-1 overall.
PSG got to the final of the best competition in Europe for only the second time. Five years ago, they were second. This happened in the first year after the famous player Kylian Mbappé left and went to Real Madrid.
The team did not get another famous player to replace Mbappé when he left. This was a big change because for over ten years, the owners spent a lot of money to buy famous players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Lionel Messi, and Neymar.
With the club's new plan, coach Luis Enrique made a strong team. They played some of the best football in Europe.
Enrique said, 'From the first day, I said our goal was to work hard to try to make history, and that is still our goal.' He added, 'We want to be the first to win the trophy we have waited for a long time.' He also said, 'This team has changed since last year. I feel good as a coach here because the president lets me do what I want and helps me build the team we want. We find players that make the team better every day.'
The French club is aiming to win their first Champions League title when they compete against Inter Milan in Munich on May 31st.
We believe in our coach and our players. They are talented, young players who want to win. They play hard for the team, for the shirt, for the city, and for the club. This is the most important thing.
There is still one match remaining, so our work is not yet complete.
Inter, who had won in Europe three times before, beat Barcelona with a total score of 7-6. This game was a great semifinal in the history of the competition.
This year, PSG won against Aston Villa, Liverpool, and Arsenal. Last year, they lost to Borussia Dortmund at this stage. In 2020, they lost to Bayern Munich in the final.
PSG scored the first goal after 27 minutes. After Arsenal's defense kicked a free kick away, the ball went to Fabian Ruiz. He hit the ball hard into the goal.
Achraf Hakimi scored a precise goal in the 72nd minute to make the score 2-0, and then Bukayo Saka scored a goal for Arsenal.
Arsenal had problems at the start last week in London. They couldn't deal with PSG's strong play in the middle of the field, and they lost 1-0.
This time, the Gunners attacked 61 times, while PSG attacked 26 times. Thomas Partey, a midfielder, was back and this helped the team.
The visiting team played well and had chances to score, but they didn't.
Arsenal played well on the sides against PSG. After eight minutes, Martin Ødegaard shot low from outside the box, and the goalkeeper Donnarumma stopped the ball well.
PSG had to wait for chances to attack quickly, but they did not get many.
After 17 minutes, they finally had a chance to score. A player named Khvicha Kvaratskhelia had space on the left side. He moved to the middle with his right foot and took a shot that hit the post.
PSG did not use a bad pass from William Saliba. But Désiré Doué shot the ball softly, and it went right to Raya.
Soon after 60 minutes, Arsenal had another good chance. Saka kicked the ball well towards the top corner, but Donnarumma jumped and pushed the ball away.
Then Vitinha missed a penalty because a video check showed a player touched the ball with his hand. Soon after, PSG scored again. Hakimi kicked the ball into the corner after a pass from Ousmane Dembélé, who came into the game later.
Arsenal kept trying to score and Saka scored a goal in the 76th minute to make the score closer.
