The Formula 1 team Alpine has a new driver. Franco Colapinto will drive for at least the next five races instead of Jack Doohan.
Alpine said on Wednesday that Flavio Briatore will be the new team boss. This happened because Oliver Oakes left the day before.
Alpine said Colapinto will race with Pierre Gasly from the Emilia-Romagna race. They will look at how he does again before the British race in July.
Alpine is ninth in the F1 teams' points after six races. The next race is from May 16 to 18 in Imola.
At the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, Doohan hit another car at the start and then crashed on the next lap.
Before the Miami race, Oakes said the young Australian driver would stay in the car.
Doohan didn't get any points in his seven races. His best finish was 13th place. He will go back to being the team's reserve driver.
Jack Doohan's father, Mick Doohan, was a famous motorcycle racer. Jack drove in his first Formula 1 race at the end of 2024. This year, he started driving for the Alpine team at the first race in Australia. He took the place of Esteban Ocon, who left Alpine because he had a bad year in 2024.
Colapinto became a reserve driver for Alpine in January. He raced for Williams in 2024 and got five points. He replaced Logan Sargeant in August.
