Many non-French tennis players at the French Open have complained about the unfriendly atmosphere when they play against French opponents. They say it feels like a very intense football game. The crowd's bad behavior, including booing and shouting insults, led the organizers to ban alcohol from the stands last year. Some players, like Nicolás Jarry from Chile, have called their experiences "disgusting" and the worst of their lives. Because of this negative crowd behavior, tournament director Amélie Mauresmo said that security has been increased. Also, chair umpires now have more power to stop and report bad behavior. However, not all players are bothered by this unfriendly atmosphere. For example, Belgian player Elise Mertens said it's a normal part of tennis. French player Corentin Moutet understood the pressure of playing at home and told players to just ignore it.
