Freddie Freeman had two singles and a triple when the bases were full, helping the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Miami Marlins 10-1 on Wednesday.
Freeman helped his team win four times and has now hit the ball well in 12 games in a row. Because of this, the Dodgers, who are the best team in MLB with 25 wins and 12 losses, won two out of three games in Miami and have now won their last four series. In these games, Freeman hit the ball 8 times out of 13 attempts, bringing in six runs for his team and hitting two home runs.
Shohei Ohtani hit a triple and walked three times on Wednesday. One of the walks was on purpose in the seventh inning when his team scored six runs against the pitcher Lake Bachar.
James Outman, who batted instead of another player, made the Dodgers' lead bigger with a home run that scored three runs in the ninth inning.
Landon Knack, who recently joined the team from Triple-A Oklahoma City, played well. He allowed four hits and no runs and had five strikeouts. Matt Sauer also came up to the team and finished the game, getting his first save.
The Miami pitcher Valente Bellozo gave up only one hit and struck out seven players in 5.1 innings without allowing any points.
New player Augustin Ramirez, who is a catcher, hit one single and one double for the Marlins team (their score is 14 wins and 22 losses). This means the Marlins have won only 2 of their last 11 games and lost 9.
Jesús Sánchez hit a single in the sixth inning and scored Miami's only run with a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning.
In the seventh inning, the Dodgers started scoring a lot of runs against Bachar. He started by allowing a walk, then a single, and another single that brought in a run. He then intentionally walked Ohtani and Mookie Betts with the bases full. Next, Freeman hit a triple that brought in all the runners, and another single scored another run.
The Dodgers only got one hit in the first five parts of the game against Bellozo, but then they got 11 hits from four different Miami pitchers.
The Dodgers start a four-game series in Arizona on Thursday. Pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto (4-2, 0.90) will pitch for them. The Marlins don't play on Thursday. Pitcher Max Meyer (2-3, 3.92) will start their first game of a three-game series against the Chicago White Sox on Friday.
