Freddie Freeman got two singles and a triple when the bases were full, helping the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Miami Marlins 10-1 on Wednesday.
Freeman helped his team score four runs and hit safely in his twelfth game in a row. The Dodgers, who are the best team in baseball, won their fourth series in a row in Miami.
Shohei Ohtani hit a triple and walked three times on Wednesday. One of the walks was given to him on purpose in the seventh inning. His team scored six runs in that inning against pitcher Lake Bachar.
Substitute player James Outman hit a home run with three runners on base in the ninth inning, making the Dodgers' lead bigger.
Landon Knack (2-0) got his second win. He gave up four hits and no runs and struck out five batters. He was called up earlier on Wednesday from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Matt Sauer was also called up. He pitched the last four innings after Knack and got his first save.
Miami's starting pitcher, Valente Bellozo, had a great game. He only allowed one hit and struck out seven batters over 5 1/3 innings, and no one scored any runs against him. Cade Gibson took over for him after the first batter in the sixth inning, so Bellozo didn't have to face Ohtani again. But in the next turn at bat, Ohtani hit a triple against Gibson, who then had a record of 0 wins and 1 loss.
New player Augustin Ramirez, who plays catcher, hit a single and a double for the Marlins. The Marlins have won 14 games and lost 22, and they have lost 9 of their last 11 games.
Jesús Sánchez hit the ball and reached first base in the sixth inning, and in the ninth inning, he hit a sacrifice fly that brought in Miami's only point.
The Dodgers scored many runs in the seventh inning against Bachar, who allowed several hits and walks.
The Dodgers had only one hit in the first five innings against Bellozo, but then they got eleven hits from four different Miami relief pitchers.
The Dodgers start a four-game series in Arizona on Thursday, with pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the field. The Marlins have no game on Thursday before pitcher Max Meyer begins a three-game series against the Chicago White Sox on Friday.
