Many fans waited early in the morning to see Jimin and Jung Kook. They are famous K-pop stars and the last members of BTS to finish their required military service in South Korea.
They wore their army clothes on Wednesday, gave a salute, and spoke to the fans who had come to see them after they left the army.
Jung Kook thanked the reporters and fans who came to see him and Jimin after they finished their army service. He said it felt strange to be famous again. "I haven't been in front of cameras for a long time, and I didn't wear makeup, so I feel a little shy," he said. "I don't know what to say."
They joined in December 2023, one day after RM and V. RM and V finished their service on Tuesday.
Fans came from many countries to the sports ground to meet the band. They moved it from the army base gate because it was not safe. Buses with pictures of the band were on the streets. Red and yellow balloons were in the air, and a food truck gave free coffee and water. This made it feel like a party.
Many fans wore masks because they were worried about what might happen. The band's company had told people not to come because of safety. But fans like Anaesi from Portugal still thought the long 20-hour trip to Yeoncheon was good. Yeoncheon is a town near the border with North Korea.
"Portugal is small, but BTS is like a king there," she said. Anaesi found BTS on YouTube and said they helped her feel better when she was sad. "BTS is my angel," she said. She showed a colourful tattoo on her arm with a gold shield, the word "ARMY", an eagle, and Korean writing with the names of BTS members and her friends.
V said thank you to fans on Tuesday for waiting for him and RM. He also said that the band will be back together soon. He told fans, "Please wait a little longer, and we will come back with a great show."
The seven singers from the famous K-pop band want to get back together in 2025, after they finish their work.
Six of the seven people in the group were in the army. Suga is working as a social service agent instead of being in the army. He will finish this job later this month.
Jin, who is the oldest member of BTS, left the army in June 2024. J-Hope left in October.
In South Korea, most men between 18 and 28 have to join the army for about two years. This is the law, and it's to help protect the country from North Korea.
The law helps some athletes, musicians, and dancers who have won big prizes and made the country proud. They get special treatment, but K-pop stars and other entertainers do not.
But in 2020, BTS waited to join the army because South Korea changed the rules. Now, K-pop stars can wait until they are 30 years old.
In 2022, many people talked about if BTS members should have to do military service, but in October 2022, their company said they all would.
