Grammy-winning singer Chris Brown was formally accused on Thursday in England of reportedly attacking a music producer at a London nightclub in 2023, according to legal officials.

A 36-year-old man, Brown, has been charged with causing serious physical harm after his arrest at a hotel in Manchester.

According to The Sun newspaper, producer Abe Diaw claimed that Chris Brown unexpectedly attacked him at Tape nightclub in London's Mayfair area in February 2023, leading to Diaw's hospitalization. Brown was touring the UK at the time.

A tabloid reported they knew Brown was in the UK on Wednesday and contacted the police to check if he had been arrested. The paper added that Metropolitan Police officers went to Manchester and arrested him.

Brown's spokesperson hasn't yet replied to the Associated Press's request for their opinion.

Brown is currently being held by the police and will appear in Manchester Magistrates' Court for a hearing on Friday morning.

Brown, also known as Breezy, became famous as a teenage musician in 2005 and has since created many popular songs, including "Run It," "Kiss Kiss," and "Without You."
