Prosecutors stated on Wednesday that a man from Mississippi has been charged with serious crimes, including stalking and damaging property. He had bothered actress Jennifer Aniston for two years and then drove his car through the gate of her home in Los Angeles.
Jimmy Wayne Carwyle, a 48-year-old man from New Albany, Mississippi, is also facing a more serious charge. This is because he threatened to cause serious harm, said Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman.
Carwyle, who has been in jail since his arrest on Monday, will have a court hearing on Thursday. His bail is set at $150,000. It is not yet known if he has a lawyer.
Carwyle is accused of repeatedly bothering Aniston, also called Jennifer A., by sending her unwanted messages through voicemail, email, and social media since 2023.
On Monday afternoon, in the rich area of Bel Air in Los Angeles, Carwyle drove his car through her front gate, causing a lot of damage, according to the police. A security guard stopped him in her driveway before the police came and took him away.
Police stated that Aniston was inside her house when the event happened. Nobody was hurt, according to reports. Her assistants were asked for a statement, but they did not respond right away.
Carlyle could go to prison for up to three years if he is found guilty of the crimes he is accused of.
My office is determined to take strong legal action against people who follow and frighten others, to make sure they are punished.
According to Architectural Digest, Aniston bought the house, which was built in the middle of the 20th century, on a large piece of land for about $21 million in 2012.
She became a very famous TV star during her 10 years on the show "Friends." Aniston won an important award called an Emmy for her acting in a comedy, and she has been nominated for nine more awards. Now, she is in a show called "The Morning Show" on Apple TV+.
